Jaipur. Following a devastating blaze that engulfed the Sethi Complex in Minhari Ji Ka Katla, Badi Chaupar, police have filed an FIR against the proprietor, Anand Sethi. The complaint cites illegal structural additions, inoperative fire‑safety gear, lack of a valid Fire NOC, and cramped, blocked access routes that impeded rescue efforts.

The inferno ignited on the building’s second floor and burned unabated for roughly 13 hours. As flames surged, merchandise stored in multiple shops and warehouses was consumed, prompting a prolonged and arduous firefighting operation.

Access Difficulties Hampered Firefighters

Fire‑engine crews struggled to reach the site because the surrounding lanes are narrow and littered with obstacles. The cramped approach forced responders to improvise temporary ladders and water‑delivery methods, further delaying containment.

Businesses and Losses

Among the affected enterprises are Satnam Madan Traders, Jitendra/Kamal, Kamal Agarwal, Shailendra Agarwal, Rajesh, Hasan, Ramesh/Rajesh, and Rakesh Gupta’s Vimal Hosiery Agency, as well as Chhotumai Purushottam, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Vikas Sharma, and shops numbered 201‑A through 206‑A. Vimal Hosiery Agency alone is estimated to have incurred losses of ₹65‑70 lakh, while the total damage to the remaining units is still being evaluated.

Police Investigation

The FIR was lodged on the basis of a report submitted by Sub‑Inspector Narendra. Station House Officer Rakesh Khalia has been tasked with probing the case. Authorities will scrutinize the building’s construction violations, the status of fire‑safety installations, the existence (or absence) of a Fire NOC, and any other safety lapses.
