Narkatiaganj: Authorities are investigating the death of a 35‑year‑old married woman whose body was discovered under suspicious circumstances in a rented flat in Prakashnagar, Ward 11.
The deceased, identified as Gudiya Patel, was found with marks suggesting compression around her neck, prompting immediate police involvement.
According to neighbours, Gudiya had been living apart from her husband for almost eight years; her spouse is believed to reside in Nepal. She had recently taken up residence in the aforementioned rented house.
Family members allege that Ashish Jaiswal, also known as Siku, a resident of Ward 1 who had been visiting Gudiya’s home for the past three to four years, strangled her. Her mother, Anjani Devi, and sister, Varsha Devi, claim that an argument erupted between the two roughly four days before the fatal incident, and that Gudiya had confided the dispute to her maternal relatives.
Relatives also disclosed that Gudiya’s nine‑year‑old son was staying with his maternal grandmother on the night of the tragedy, leaving his mother alone at the rented house. Her body was discovered later that evening.
Police arrived at the scene after receiving a tip‑off and have begun a thorough forensic examination. SDPO IPS Prasanna Kumar MV stated that investigators are pursuing all possible leads, and that further action will depend on the post‑mortem report and emerging evidence.
