Delhi ₹1.5 Crore Heist Cracked: Police Nab Five Suspects

New Delhi. In a dramatic turn of events, Delhi Police have dismantled a ₹1.5 crore cash robbery by arresting five alleged perpetrators and recovering about ₹1 crore from them.

How the robbery unfolded

On the evening of 7 September, a man traveling in an auto‑rickshaw with a companion set out from Chandni Chowk toward Safdarjung Enclave. He was carrying a satchel that held roughly ₹1.5 crore in cash.

Mid‑journey, a pair of motorbike riders forced the auto‑rickshaw to stop. Brandishing weapons, the assailants threatened the duo and made off with the cash‑laden bag.

Police response and breakthrough

Following the incident, a formal FIR was lodged and a dedicated investigative team was assembled. Through forensic analysis, CCTV reviews, and witness statements, detectives traced the suspects' movements and identified five individuals linked to the crime.

All five were apprehended in a series of coordinated raids across the city. During their interrogation, investigators recovered approximately ₹1 crore, which has been returned to the victim.

What remains to be recovered

  • Efforts are underway to locate the remaining ₹0.5 crore.
  • Police are probing possible accomplices and any broader conspiracy that may have facilitated the heist.
  • The case underscores the growing need for heightened security on high‑value cash transports.

Authorities have assured the public that the investigation will continue until the full amount is retrieved and all involved parties are brought to justice.
