New Delhi. Police have taken a 56‑year‑old man into custody after a Class‑6 student alleged she was sexually assaulted inside a shop in Delhi’s bustling Sadar Bazar district.

How the incident unfolded

The victim, a young girl, had stepped out to purchase stationery items for school. According to the investigation, the accused, identified as Maqsood, allegedly restrained her within the shop, tied her hands and feet, and then committed the sexual assault.

Legal action taken

Following the child’s formal complaint, officers at the women’s police station registered a case that includes charges of rape, violations of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and unlawful confinement.

Arrest and ongoing probe

Maqsood was arrested on Friday. Investigators continue to gather forensic evidence and statements to substantiate the allegations.
